October 15-16-17, 2021…
Join us online in Cyberboro each night at 7 (ET) for Freddyfest 2021!
Some Things That Came Up
We found out about an interesting article about WWII and Freddy and the Ignormus.
Now available on our YouTube Channel:
- Henry Cohn’s discussion of Freddy The Magician
- The Antiquaries sing: Songs From Freddy’s Wild West Phase
Schedule
SUNDAY 10/17 (7 pm, ET) Click here
ATHLETIC ANIMALS
Inspired by the Summer Olympics, Randy Cepuch looks at sports in the Freddy books (more than just Football and Baseball – but those, too). Was Jinx a jock? Why did Freddy play so much croquet? And what real-life event surely instigated a major plot point in Baseball?
POETRY SLAM
Dave Carley will MC this outdo-Mrs.-Peppercorn competition, so bring your worst, most tortured verse (no more than 10 lines of maximum awfulness). Your goal is to elicit the most groans from Judge Willey and Mrs. Winnifred Church. There will be prizes!
Zoom Meeting Details
Click here for the detailed Zoom info. Note: the links, above, will be enough in most cases.
Completed
FRIDAY 10/15 (7 p.m., ET)
YOU AND OUR PIG
Tell your how-I-met-Freddy tale to others in our digital barnyard, and share tales of how the books have been good influences on your life. John Chastain will preside and he’ll also pay tribute to the 75h anniversary of Freddy the Pied Piper – plus, if goaded (or even if not), might tout Sunday’s poetry slam by offering his Ode to Mrs. Peppercorn.
SATURDAY 10/16 (7 pm, ET)
FREDDY THE MAGICIAN
Through the magic of video (it IS magic, right?), Henry Cohn will pull rabbits out of his hat. Er, maybe not, but he WILL discuss the book. (This video will also be available on our YouTube Channel.)
NOTABLE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
Connie Arnold will lead discussions about Freddy and the Ignormus (published 80 years ago, in 1941) and Freddy Rides Again (published 70 years ago, in 1951), putting them into historical context in the series and in the world. Bring your favorite quotes from those books. Also, there will be a quiz with piggy prizes!
